Economic Development

Economic development for Assembly District 29 starts with establishing and maintaining quality schools and healthcare. It’s difficult to get people and businesses to move to an area if those two resources are lacking.

Expansion of broadband into our mostly rural district is a challenge and an opportunity. I will continue to push for broadband funding at the state level; opening up opportunities for high paying remote employment in our district. This also benefits our students. There were too many stories of students during Covid struggling to connect in a remote learning environment. We can do better. In some of our most remote areas where cable is prohibitively expensive, satellite coverage should be subsidized.

From Trempealeau to Prescott, our Driftless Area is a regional tourist destination for countless hikers, bikers, shoppers, motorcyclists, hunters, snowmobilers, kayakers, birders, and folks who’ve been known to wet a line in the Mississippi River. Targeted small business loans and tax credits for start-ups will continue to spur growth in our communities and throughout our region.
